Who we are
A finance society that doesn't require you to study finance.
BFS is the University of Exeter's largest society, and its members come from every discipline in the university: STEM, humanities and languages as much as business and economics. That mix is the point: business and finance are broader than the degrees named after them.
We run the talks, the office visits and the application workshops. We also run the balls, the intramural sport and the socials, because the network you build over three years matters as much as the CV you build.

A student-led consultancy delivering data-driven work for businesses, start-ups and charities, with live client projects, workshops on interviews and the recruitment process, and guest speakers from firms such as EY, BCG and Teneo.

Questions
Before you join.
Do I have to study Business or Economics to join?
No. Members come from every discipline in the university, including STEM, humanities and languages. A large share of people who end up in consulting and banking did not study finance, and our events are built on that assumption.
How much does membership cost and how do I join?
£12 for the year, and it covers all three divisions (Investment Banking, Exe Consulting and Women in Business) with no separate division fees. It's bought through the Students' Guild portal, which handles payment and confirms your place. Press any Join button on this page to go straight there.
I'm a first year with no experience. Is this too early?
It is the opposite of too early. Spring week applications open in your first term of first year, which is exactly why our workshops run in the autumn.
Can I play sport with BFS?
Yes, we run intramural netball, football and cricket teams. There are no trials and no experience needed; message the relevant captain and turn up. Fixtures and results go out on @bfs_imsport on Instagram.
Are events members-only?
Most careers events and all divisional sessions are members-only. Some flagship events and socials sell tickets to non-members when space allows, but members always get first access.
